The Urban Nutcracker is approximately 2 hours long, including a 20 minute intermission.

What COVID-19 safety protocols does the theatre have in place?

The Boch Center Shubert Theatre’s safety upgrades and COVID-19 protocols can be found at https://www.bochcenter.org/plan-your-visit/covid-19.

Can I buy tickets at the dance studio?
No.  All ticketing is done through Boch Center Shubert Theatre.

Can I buy the day of the show?
Probably.  We do sell out almost all shows, and sell out entire sections.  Please buy your tickets in advance online or at the box office when it is open.  There is a cut off prior to the show start time each day of the show when we will no longer sell tickets except day-of tickets.

Can my child sit on my lap?
No. All children infant-to-18 must be ticketed per the laws of the state of Massachusetts.

What is the Director’s Row? Why is it so expensive?
The Director’s Row is the row in which our Artistic Director, Tony Williams, prefers to sit during rehearsals and shows.  You will often see him there, right in the center.  It is the best acoustical and site-line advantage in the house, in his opinion and therefore he offers these tickets at an elevated rate to experience the show in its perfect scenario.

Are any seats obstructed?
Yes. They are clearly marked by the theatre and only sold under knowledge that they are obstructed.  Only a handful of seats are obstructed.  Many still offer a wide majority of stage view. We do our best to not sell these seats if possible, but make them available for a discount through the theatre.

Do you have discounts for senior citizens?
At this time we do not.

What are rehearsals like?
We rehearse from September through Thanksgiving, then go into dress rehearsals and technical rehearsals at our theatre in December. Follow us on Instagram @cityballetofboston and @urbannutcracker for a behind-the-scenes look at our rehearsals!

When are auditions?
Auditions for youth and adult dancers will be in September 2024.

When do tickets go on sale?
Tickets for the 2024 Urban Nutcracker go on sale Summer 2024.

Is this linked to the Urban Nutcracker in Atlanta/ Denver/ Austin?
No. Our program was founded in the year 1999 with our first production in 2001. Our show is the original idea of Anthony Williams, our founder and Artistic Director.
